Two bear cubs, rescued in the region of Sofia, have been temporarily put up at the Bear Park near Belitsa.
The bears were rescued in a joint operation by the Ministry of Environment and Water, WWF and the Four Paws foundation. The cubs were localized thanks to a report by local people. They were found to be alone, without their mother. “Bear cubs left without a mother have no chance of surviving in nature,” the park’s manager Dimitar Ivanov says.
The bears will remain at the park until they have papers drawn up so they can be transported to Greece. There they will undergo a period of adaptation and will then be released back into the wild.
