A protest against air pollution in Ruse on the Danube blocked traffic in the region of the Danube bridge border checkpoint.

The protest will continue on Sunday, from 11 AM until 1 PM. The participants organized a motorcade protest which started out from the centre of Ruse, and reached the Danube bridge border checkpoint. The protesters stopped their cars inside the roundabout, blocking off traffic.

The protesters have been raising the same demands for years, but the authorities do not want to take any steps against the daily industrial pollution of the air, they say. The protest is also against the project for the construction of a waste incinerator on the opposite bank of the river, in the Romanian town of Giurgiu, the participants in the protest say.
