Countdown to carnival in Gabrovo begins today

As is the tradition, on the 11th day of the 11th month, the countdown begins to next year’s carnival in Gabrovo.

People in Gabrovo say that in their town they have a 5th season of the year, in which to get ready for the festival. Every year, on the 11th of the 11th they choose the motto of the next festival, and this time it is: Make carnival, not war! Aptly dressed like a hippy, the MC with a bunch of “little hippies” gave the start to the countdown to the carnival in 2024.

By a tradition, the masked revelers start following the “tailless cat” on the third Saturday of May. In 2024, the date will be 18 May. Which means there are 190 to go, in which the people taking part can make their costumes and put together the satirical platforms.
