Today, the Bulgarian parliament will discuss in the first reading two draft laws on changes to the Law on the Control of Implementation of Restrictive Measures in view of Russia's actions destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. Their importers are GERB-SDS and PP-DB. The project submitted by Delyan Dobrev from GERB-SDS envisages the cancellation of the derogation for Russian oil within three days after the changes are promulgated.

PP-DB will propose that the derogation expire on March 15, 2024, when the winter period will have passed.

According to GERB leader Boyko Borissov, voting against the proposal to drop the derogation already this month would outline a new "assembly of pro-Kremlin parties".

The current texts foresee that the derogation will be completely abolished from October 2024.
