Bulgaria needs three transport axes to connect with neighboring countries

We have created a picture for ourselves that Bulgaria is connected to all its neighbours, but the reality is different, stated Bulgaria's Minister of Regional Development Andrey Tsekov.

In Varna, before the "Municipalities - Perspective 2027" forum, he admitted that there is a highway only to Turkey. According to him, the country should have 3 axes connecting to its neighbors. But none of them are finished. "Therefore, the first priority is to finish them and, where they have not been started, to start them," said Tsekov.

Funds for the completion of the planned 5 highways have been secured, it remains to assign the design of the missing sections along them, the minister stressed.

He pointed out that intensive work continues on the highways Hemus, Struma, Europe, Ruse-Byala, the Vidin-Botevgrad expressway. The important connections Veliko Tarnovo-Makaza, Ruse-Shumen and Shumen-Yambol-Lesovo will also be designed.
