Having completed regional testing of the new BG-ALERT emergency alert system for Bulgaria, a national test will be held on 29 November. It will take place from 12.00 to 12.30. The alert will be in Bulgarian and English.

The system will send a one-time text message to citizens' mobile phones, accompanied by a specific sound and vibration alert signal, which will be active even if the device is in silent mode, BG-ALERT said.

Such messages can already be sent to citizens in a number of countries, including Bulgaria's neighbours Romania and Greece.
