The third attempt by the Sofia City Council to elect a president has failed.

Before the vote, the coalition "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria - Save Sofia" withdrew its candidate, Boris Bonev. The other candidates were Diana Tonova of the BSP, Krassimir Galabov of Vazrazhdane and Plamen Danailov of There is Such a People.
Voting took place in two rounds, both of which resulted in more than 20 spoilt ballots, and none of the candidates managed to get half the votes of the councillors to take office. The next  Sofia City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 December.
