An exhibition dedicated to one of the most significant artists in Bulgarian contemporary art - Kolio Karamfilov - has opened in Plovdiv's L'Union gallery. It will remain open to visitors until January 15, 2024 and is dedicated to the artist's 60th anniversary, which the artist would have celebrated on December 7 this year and ten years since his death on January 12, 2014. ‎

Karamfilov is an artist of spatial plastic and emotional messages. His art is intimate, poetic, saturated, lightly touching the image and soul of man. ‎

‎"He knew how to say a lot with a little. People continue to love him, even those who were not fortunate enough to know him. He was an extremely charismatic person," says gallerist Pavlina Marinova to BNR-Plovdiv. Through the wise and philosophical worlds created by him, a series of repeated images passes - a hand, a head, a flower, a heart, a tree, a house... These sign signals are the world of Kolyo Karamfilov. One of them we highlight most clearly is the house as one's home.

The importance and power of home in a person's life, as a modern figurative message, makes us think that regardless of where we are, home is where the heart is. These signs can be seen in the very personal drawings, objects, lithographs and paintings shown in the gallery in Karamfilov's hometown of Plovdiv. ‎

From 1983 until his death in 2014, Kolio Kramfilov held dozens of solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows in Bulgaria and abroad. His works are owned by many private collections in Bulgaria and abroad.‎
