Bulgarian National Radio's new CD 'Bulgarian Opera Voices' to be presented at Bulgaria Hall

OPERA GALA tonight (December 8) at Bulgaria Hall in Sofia will feature three of the musical ensembles of Bulgarian National Radio - the Symphony Orchestra, the Mixed Choir and the Children's Choir. They will present the new Bulgarian National Radio CD "Bulgarian Opera Voices". Soloists are world famous - soprano Alexandrina Pendachanska, tenor Ivan Momirov and bass Deyan Vachkov. There will also be a special guest - baritone Kiril Manolov.

"The project "Bulgarian Opera Voices" includes 14 recordings of Bulgarian opera singers known to music lovers from the world and national stages - says BNR's music producer Georgi Elenkov. - A special tribute is paid to the great Bulgarian tenor Kamen Chanev, who in 2020 lost the battle with Covid-19 to remain forever at the top of his career. The album features the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra led by renowned opera conductors, and one of the recordings features the male section of the Bulgarian National Radio Mixed Choir. The recordings were made in recent years in the iconic Studio One of the Bulgarian National Radio. The performances are grouped stylistically and we looked for contrasts in the juxtaposition of the different types of voices".

The concert programme, conducted by Grigor Palikarov, includes arias from operas by Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, Bizet and other composers. It also stars one of the two Bulgarian works on the CD - the aria of Hitar Petar (Cunning Peter) from the first act of Veselin Stoyanov's opera of the same name.
