PM Denkov expects good news about Schengen from the Netherlands before Christmas

Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov has announced that positive news is expected from the Netherlands about the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen. From Brussels, he said that today there was a meeting of the government of the Netherlands, at which a decision was made to give Bulgaria the green light for Schengen. It will be submitted to the country's parliament, which has the final say.

"The final decision to lift the veto must be taken by the Dutch parliament. This could happen next week, if everything is in order," Denkov said. He added that the negotiations continue with the second country blocking Bulgaria’s entry into Schengen – Austria..
