Despite Austria's intention to abolish border checks at airports as part of our path to Schengen, Bulgaria should not accept an Austrian decision in which land borders are not mentioned at all, Premier Nikolay Denkov said for Nova TV. Nikolay Denkov noted that ''progress must be made on the land borders''.

''The point is that we should not be held hostage to decisions that can depend on conjunctural situations, on whether or not there are elections in a given country", Bulgaria’s Premier commented.

As regards Hungary's warning to veto Bulgaria’s Schengen entry unless it drops the transit fee for Russian gas, Nikolay Denkov expressed hope that the opposition would stop the boycott over the dismantling of the Monument to the Soviet Army and the MPs would vote on the decision today.
