The National Customs Agency seizes more than 18 million counterfeit goods in 2023

More than 18 million items imitating famous brands have been seized by the National Customs Agency in 2023. The volume is double that of 2022. In Varna alone nearly 400,000 counterfeit goods were seized in October and November. They were imported from China, the Bulgarian National Television said.

During the pre-Christmas period, there has been an increase in seizures of toys imitating global brands. The sale of counterfeit goods harms both trademark owners and consumers, because the quality is dubious. In addition to toys, sporting goods, auto parts, accessories, perfumes, etc, are most often imitated. Counterfeit goods are destroyed only under customs control and at the expense of trademark holders.
