The first group of the 32nd National Antarctic Expedition has left for Ushuaia, Argentina. From there, together with a team of builders, it will sail to the icy continent on board the Bulgarian military research ship "Sts. Cyril and Methodius".

"The main task of the group after the de-conservation of the base, in parallel with the realization of the scientific projects, will be the construction of the new laboratory block, the foundations of which were laid during the previous expedition," expedition leader Prof. Hristo Pimpirev said.

After the New Year, another group of scientists will arrive on Livingstone Island to study climate changes. BNR music editor Marina Velikova also participates in the expedition, as she will make sound recordings on Antarctica.
