Austria has assumed the commitment to continue the negotiations for the opening of the land borders, said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov at today’s cabinet sitting in a comment on Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen area.

“These negotiations will be combined with significant support by the European Commission for the protection of the EU’s external borders with Turkey and Serbia, so as to reduce the flow of illegal migrants into Europe,” Nikolai Denkov said further.

The Bulgarian prime minister confirmed that after long and difficult negotiations with Austria, principled agreement has been reached on the accession of Bulgaria and Romania by air and sea.
