The names of the 10 best Bulgarian athletes for 2023 have been announced

Competitors from 9 sports have entered the top ten chart of Sportsperson of the Year 2023. The organizers have announced the top 10 in a poll among 107 sports journalists from 43 media outlets. Winners will be announced on January 4th.

Many expect the winner to be basketball player Aleksandar Vezenkov, now playing for Sacramento Kings. Rhythmic gymnastics is represented by the European all-around champion Boryana Kaleyn and Stiliyana Nikolova. Among the top ten are also Albert Popov - skier, Grigor Dimitrov - tennis player, Alexander Nikolov - volleyball player, Ioana Ilieva - fencer, Karlos Nasar - weightlifting, Petar Mitsin - swimmer and chess player Nurgyul Salimova. The national under-21 men's volleyball team, the rhythmic gymnastics ensemble, the women's national chess team and the Ludogorets football team are competing for the best team award.
