The price of natural gas for January will be 11.3% lower than the December price. The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission confirmed the price of natural gas at BGN 77.60 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT.

''The reduction in the price of natural gas at the height of the heating season is good news for all Bulgarian consumers who use blue fuel", said Ivan Ivanov, Chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. In his words, the lower price is due to the relatively mild weather and filled gas storage facilities across Europe.

The gas storage facility in Chiren is filled to slightly less than 90% of its storage capacity, which, however, is sufficient to pass the autumn-winter season without problems, Ivan Ivanov further said.
