This winter has started with unusually warm weather, but while there is no snow in the lower parts of the country, the ski season is now officially open in the mountains, much to the delight of winter sports enthusiasts. Many people choose Vitosha Mountain near Sofia as a place to spend their days off and indulge in their favorite hobby.

Thousands of Bulgarians and foreigners welcomed the New Year in Bansko. The town in the Pirin Mountain is a preferred destination for many tourists from neighboring Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia and Romania

This winter season, the Borovets resort in Rila is overflowing with tourists. There are good conditions for skiing and the weather is also good for mountain walks.

The ski resort of Pamporovo in the Rhodopes, which this month will host events of the Snowboard Alpine World Cup for the first time in its history, has already welcomed its first guests - fans of ski and tourism, of whom the youngest are the most passionate.

Although it cannot be compared in size to the larger winter destinations in this country, the Kartala ski resort, located just 25 km away from Blagoevgrad in the Rila Mountains, also attracts many winter sports enthusiasts.
