For the first time in Bulgaria, a woman with a liver transplant became a mother. 29-year-old Petya Yordanova, who underwent a liver transplant operation two years ago, gave birth to a girl, the capital's obstetrics hospital "Maichin Dom" announced. The baby was conceived naturally.

Petya Yordanova was 25 years old when she was included in the waiting list for a transplant of a liver due to a terminal illness. After two years of waiting for a chance for a new life, the woman from Dimitrovgrad received a call that there was a donor situation in October 2021. The transplant was performed at the Sofia Military Medical Academy (VMA).
