On the occasion of Vasilitsa holiday honored by the Roma community as the beginning of the New Year, children from the secondary school "Traiko Simeonov" in the town of Shumen paid a visit to Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov in the Council of Ministers. Dressed in traditional costumes, they recreated the preparations for their holiday and greeted the Prime Minister.

"I want to especially congratulate the healthcare and social mediators. We know that they are a driving force in these schools where we want children to receive even better care", said Nikolay Denkov. He also congratulated the management of the educational institution for the initiative to develop a program for arts and sports, a theater group and for learning English.

"The Roma are not a marginalized community, but an ethnic group that has its own traditions. Today's Roma children are getting more and more educated and value their traditions. All children should be together in the classrooms, therefore we encourage the process of desegregation", noted the guests.

The event is part of the "Let's restore the bridges between us" campaign.
