Grain producers are ready for protests, it transpired after a meeting of the Board of the National Association of Grain Growers. In a statement, they highlight the difficult situation the sector is facing and the need to take timely measures for its survival.

The sector demands that the five main crops - wheat, barley, corn, sunflower and rapeseed - be included in the program "Aid to support the liquidity of farmers to overcome the negative economic impact of the Russian aggression against Ukraine" in 2024. Producers demand an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov. They also want to be heard at the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

''The National Association of Grain Growers declares its absolute and unwavering readiness to defend the grain sector and its members by any means permitted by law, including marches, protests and blockades, both locally and in the capital’' the association said.
