The Bulgarian National Radio is once again bringing together jazz musicians from the Balkans with a vivid presence on the European jazz scene in a concert by the BNR’s Big Band. Part of the New European Music project, tonight’s concert at 7 PM at the BNR’s Studio No. 1 will present original music by composer, guitarist and music arranger Vladimir Nikolov from North Macedonia, who will this time be guest conductor. The concert will feature, as soloists, drummer Srdjan Ivanovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the Bulgarian musicians Mihail Ivanov, bass guitar and Antoni Donchev, piano.
Vladimir Nikolov, Srdjan Ivanovic and Mihail Ivanov have been working together sicne 2002 when they met at the conservatory in Amsterdam. The three continued to play together with the Nikolov-Ivanovic Undectet, founded in 2017 by Vladimir Nikolov and Srdjan Ivanovic. Now, audiences in Bulgaria will be able to hear the music they make, live.
In today’s Song of the Day we offer you the piece Scream by Vladimir Nikolov. It is from Nikolov-Ivanovic Undectet’s third album called Dystopia, released in December 2023. Tonight’s concert at the BNR’s Studio N. 1 will feature more pieces from the album.
