Besides the immeasurable help in taking care of the children, they are their most important teachers of the Bulgarian language and traditions,” reads a post on Facebook. “The expression “It takes a village to raise a child” is very popular in the US. Taking into account our national psychology and traditions, the expression should, perhaps be amended to: It takes a village and/or a granny to raise a child,” the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York writes.
