Based on the idea of Hristo Botev, Bulgarians in London publish "Historical Compendium of Mathematics"

Bulgarians in London have published a "Historical Compendium of Mathematics". The initiators say they were inspired by the idea of national hero Hristo Botev, which for various reasons never saw the light of day. The textbook was first presented at the Bulgarian Embassy in London. A few days earlier, the young authors, united by their true love for Bulgaria, had founded their own association, "Covenant". The new book will be a gift to Bulgarian Sunday school children abroad.

The idea for the collection emerged serendipitously when one day, the young people living in the British capital came across an article about Hristo Botev. The article told of Botev's vision of a book of mathematical problems, all based on facts from Bulgarian history.
Among the contributors are Bulgarian historians. One of them is Prof. Andrey Andreev from the University of Veliko Tarnovo. "A method from our Renaissance is being used here. The aim is to stimulate interest not only in mathematics, but also in Bulgaria's past," says Prof Andreev for BNR's Horizont programme. "It was quite an effort and we had some disputes along the way. We tried to give it historical credibility".
