''I have never been a Deputy Prime Minister in this cabinet and I have never insisted on being a Deputy Premier. I have always been and wanted to be the Minister of Finance’’, Assen Vassilev said for Nova TV with regard to the upcoming cabinet rotation. Vassilev said that if the National Assembly took such a decision, he would not oppose it, but that has never been a goal. ''The only policy I pursue is financial policy'', said Assen Vassilev.

He explained that there is no scandal regarding the sale of his property. In his words, there is an attempt to cause reputational damage. That is why he is suing the authors of the publications. According to the minister, there is a series of personal attacks against him. They started before Christmas regarding the implementation of the state budget but have now shifted to the yellow spectrum. Assen Vassilev added that the lobbying firm hired by "We Continue the Change" aimed to protect the interests of Bulgaria and this was done publicly and transparently.

The minister said that 2024 will be good for the citizens as wages are growing twice as fast as inflation. In his words, the country aims to join the Eurozone on January 1, 2025.
