Bulgarian swimmer Tsanko Tsankov, who participates in the toughest swimming marathons in the world Oceans Seven, has been nominated in the "Man of the Year" category in the rankings of the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA)

The nomination comes after Tsanko swam the Catalina Strait in the USA in August 2023, BGNES reported.

Tsankov is the first Bulgarian to successfully complete two swimming marathons in the world of the most difficult on the planet - the Strait of Gibraltar from Europe to Africa and Catalina in the Pacific Ocean.

This year in April, the swimmer will embark on the 27km Cook Strait Oceans Seven Marathon in New Zealand.

In October, Tsankov will participate in the longest swimming marathon in the world with a length of 47 km in a straight line between the islands of Molokai and Oahu (part of the Hawaiian archipelago).
