The Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber has announced effective protest actions starting on February 6, if the agreed meeting with the executive power is not held by the end of this week and the demands of farmers for state aid are not accepted.
The board of directors of the chamber adopted a declaration stating that the serious challenges and problems facing the agricultural sector would drive farmers in all corners of the country to the streets and the only way this could be prevented is by meeting their demands.
After the meeting held on January 30, 2024 with Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev and Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Finance, it became clear that the government needs time to decide whether it can meet the demands in the package of measures sent by the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber and the National Grain Producer Association.
