Bulgaria and Romania will coordinate their future actions to achieve the abolition of internal European border checks. This was agreed upon by the foreign ministers of the two countries, Maria Gabriel and Luminița Odobescu, at a meeting in Sofia.

"The acceptance of Bulgaria and Romania into Schengen is a significant joint success, which will contribute to improving the sustainability and positive development of the entire region and Europe," Mariya Gabriel pointed out.

This is the first official visit of a Romanian foreign minister to Bulgaria after more than 10 years, Gabriel added.
