National Assembly Vice-President Nikola Minchev from We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) was elected to chair the ad hoc committee of inquiry into the facts and circumstances connected with the activities of the group around Martin Bozhanov, a.k.a The Notary, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.

There were three nominations for chair of the committee, with 125 MPs voting for Nikola Minchev, 72 for the nomination of Vazrazhdane Zlatan Zlatanov and 67 for Grozdan Karadzhov, the nomination of There Is Such a People (ITN). Toshko Yordanov from ITN stated that the people who proposed the formation of this committee should investigate themselves because the connections in the judiciary are precisely those of PP/DB, GERB and The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS). In connection with this, Yordanov nominated Karadzhov with the motive of “getting some objective work done”, but ultimately the majority voted for Nikola Minchev.
