At a meeting in Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of the Bulgarian National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov pointed out, that Bulgaria will continue to render Ukraine military, humanitarian and political support for as long as it takes. On his part, President Zelensky stated that all support is important and that his country will never forget Bulgaria’s help.

As regards the air raid the Bulgarian delegation witnessed today, the Ukrainian president pointed out that this showed the Bulgarian members of parliament what life is like for the Ukrainian citizens “in the coldest months of the year when the attacks are targeted at the energy infrastructure”. Rosen Zhelyazkov expressed concern over “the unprecedented military activities of the Russian Federation in the region of the Black Sea, and more specifically the increasing militarization of the Crimean Peninsula”, and added that Bulgaria does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea.

Later, at a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Rosen Zhelyazkov said that Bulgaria supports all twelve EU sanctions packages imposed on Russia "in response to its illegal military aggression against Ukraine". Rosen Zhelyazkov also stressed that Bulgaria supports the development of "solidarity corridors" aimed at facilitating food exports from Ukraine through different land and maritime routes. For his part, Prime Minister Shmyhal expressed gratitude for the military-technical, humanitarian and political assistance from friendly Bulgaria.
