For the first time a folk dancing master class took place in New York, with renowned choreographer Prof. Dr. Anton Andonov, who heads the Choreography department at the Prof. Assen Diamandiev Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv.
The event brought together many fans of Bulgarian folklore from far and wide. “People from Bulgaria, America, Japan, some travelling hundreds of kilometres to be here, came especially to meet Professor Andonov and to take part in his class,” the Bulgarian school Hristo Botev in New York, which hosted the event, wrote on Facebook.
Together with Prof. Andonov, the participants in the seminar learnt eight Bulgarian horo dances of varying degrees of complexity from different folklore regions of Bulgaria.
