Funding for Olympic sports upped

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has approved funding amounting to EUR 21.5 million for the activities, during the current year, of federations administering Olympic sports, with each headquarters will receiving increased state financing as compared to 2023.  The increase in funding for federations under the Olympic training programme is connected with the upcoming participation of Bulgarian athletes in the Olympic Games in Paris, and the possibility of earning more Olympic quotas.

According to the changes, the Olympic training programme will be provided 27% more in monthly financing for the training of athletes who have earned quotas. A 15% increase in pay for coaches and their teams has been set down in the amended accompanying staffing programme.
