The procedure for transporting Bulgaria’s superfluous armoured personnel carriers has been completed.

The vehicles have been rounded up and are in Sofia. For them to be sent to Ukraine, we are waiting for a Romanian company to specify the transportation schedule, Deputy Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov said in an interview with public service TV BNT. The financing is 100% external, but that is delaying delivery. Internal national financing is also being discussed at the Ministry so as to speed up the procedure.

Atanas Zapryanov confirmed the construction of a NATO base near Yambol. “It is a region of Bulgaria that is an area with military barracks where there will be an international presence. Troops will be accommodated in this area, but we also have facilities – like airports, bases etc., which are also military sites in the vicinity of other towns. The region of Kabile is being overexposed for propaganda reasons, after all we have other military facilities that are more important,” Deputy Minister Zapryanov said.
