Cannabis worth €3m found in a truck at Kapitan Andreevo BCP

Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint have detained a truck carrying 337 kg of marijuana worth more than 3 million euro, public broadcaster BNT reported. This is more than the 260 kg of drugs seized at Kapitan Andreevo BCP in the whole of last year.

The lorry, which was travelling from the UK to Turkey, was subjected to a thorough customs inspection when customs officers found the packages hidden between regularly transported plastic pallets. A 40-year-old Turkish man has been arrested, but there is no evidence of an organised drug trafficking channel. The penalty for this offence is 15 to 20 years' imprisonment and a fine of 200 to 300,000 leva (100 to 150,000 euro).
