Vazrazhdane party demands negotiations for new nuclear capacities with more than one developer

The parliamentary group of Vazrazhdane submitted a proposal to cancel the decision of the National Assembly of 23 February Bulgaria to negotiate with only one potential builder for the engineering, construction and commissioning of units 7 and 8 of Kozloduy NPP using the AP 1000 technology of Westinghouse.

According to Vazrazhdane, the extremely short deadline for potential builders to submit bids has generated a violent public reaction, BTA reported. Vazrazhdane believes this legitimizes the elimination of competition.

On 23 February, the parliament mandated that negotiations with Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co for the construction and commissioning of the new blocks be held by 15 April this year. The lawmakers first rejected the proposal, then voted it down and passed it with one more vote in favor.
