Children from the art school Kolorit in Pleven were awarded at the 31st international visual arts contest organized by the UNESCO centre in Troyes, France.

The theme this year is “The Olympic Games in painting and drawing: From ancient Greece to the modern games... sporting prowess to shared values”, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. The highest distinction, the UNESCO prize went to 13-year old Plamena Zaharieva who has been studying online for two years. “Nominated author” went to 7-year old Aristeides Siampras, who lives in Greece and also studies online.  Alexander Petrov (10), Pavel Simeonov (10) and Lilia Yankova (13) were distinguished in the “selected author” category.

4,500 works by children from 78 countries took part in the UNESCO contest, giving expression to the spirit, the emotion and the values of Olympic sports.
