Nathaniel Copsey to take over as UK ambassador to Bulgaria in August

Mr Nathaniel Copsey has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria in succession to Dr Rob Dixon who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Copsey will take up his appointment during August 2024, a press release by the British embassy reads.

Mr. Copsey has worked as speechwriter to the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. Most of his career is with a focus on Europe, and more specifically the EU and Eastern Europe. Nathaniel Copsey is Honorary Professor of Politics and was previously Full Professor of Politics and Head of Department at Aston.

The new ambassador to Sofia speaks Bulgarian, and will be joined in Sofia by his family. “I am honoured to be transferred to Bulgaria as ambassador of the UK. Never before has out partnership been as important as it is today,” Nathaniel Copsey said.
