Eurozone countries welcome the progress made by Bulgaria towards adopting the euro

We welcome the progress achieved by Bulgaria on its way towards adopting the euro and encourage the continued efforts towards meeting all the convergence criteria, reads a statement issued after the two-day Euro Summit in Brussels.

In June, Bulgaria is expecting a compliance assessment of whether the country meets the criteria for the adoption of the euro. The country will likely ask for an additional evaluation in the autumn, because that is when it is expected to meet the last of the criteria – the inflation rate, outgoing Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev said.
