The Ministry of Interior conducts an operation along the country's borders

The Ministry of Interior is conducting an operation along the country's borders. The actions are carried out by personnel from the Border Police, the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime, the National Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency on the orders of the Minister of the Interior Kalin Stoyanov. 

The task is to prevent the passage of undeclared goods. Control is being exercised over the organization of work for a normal border-crossing regime – by calculating the forces and resources available, rotation of employees working in corruption- prone areas or performing activities at risk of corruption. As part of the prevention of corrupt practices and abuse of official positions, inspectors conduct secondary interviews with passengers who have passed through customs and border checks to identify any problems or incidents that may have occurred during their passage through the country.

Caretaker Minister of Finance, Lyudmila Petkova, was questioned today in parliament following the State Agency for National Security's operation in the National Customs Agency.

On April 15, German Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser and Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov visited the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint on the Bulgaria-Turkiye border.
