The mayor of Pleven Dr. Valentin Hristov called an urgent meeting of all law enforcement structures and structures in charge of cleaning the town to assess the damage inflicted after a severe rain and hailstorm in the town last night. Strong winds, heavy rain and hail with pellets of 3-4 cms. hit Pleven after 8 PM last night. The storm lasted 40 minutes, and turned the streets into rivers, bringing down trees and inflicting damage to road surfaces and pavements.

On 8 May a storm hit Kurdzhali after 5.30 PM. The heavy rain and thunder left the streets deserted, submerging the roundabout at the bus station in the town.
