The role of language in preserving national identity abroad, theory and practice in Bulgarian language lessons, was the focus of a forum in the United Kingdom dedicated to cooperation between state institutions, non-governmental organizations and representatives of foreign educational systems for the successful development of Bulgarian Sunday schools abroad. The forum was hosted by the Bulgarian Sunday School "St. Ivan Rilski", which provides education in Cambridge, Peterborough and Spalding.

During this academic year, the Ministry of Education supports 42 Bulgarian schools in the United Kingdom. Four of the Bulgarian Sunday schools in the UK have contracts with the Department of Language Teaching at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" to conduct online tests for certification of knowledge in Bulgarian language according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, including the Bulgarian Sunday School "St. Ivan Rilski", the Ministry of Education said.
