More than two years ago, Russia’s Gazprom Export suspended gas deliveries under the contract with Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz.
After a two year’s delay, the new management of the state company Bulgargaz has decided to claim over EUR 400 million in damages incurred from the suspension of the gas deliveries by Galzprom, caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov has announced. Bulgargaz’ claim will first be sent to Gazprom Export, with a brief deadline for reaching agreement voluntarily. If no such agreement is reached, Bulgargaz will file a lawsuit at the International Chamber of Commerce’s Court of Arbitration in Paris. Minister Malinov explained that the deadline Bulgargaz will give Gazprom Export for reaching an agreement is extremely brief – no more than month – because there has been a delay of more than two years for arranging the matter.
