Two MPs from the region of Pernik submitted a question to the National Assembly regarding the discovery of about 200 kg of mercury and other toxic substances in a warehouse in the city. The MPs demand a written answer from acting Minister of Environment and Water, Petar Dimitrov.

"The irresponsible storage of mercury and other dangerous substances in a building that does not meet any requirements and is not subject to any control by competent departments and institutions is inadmissible and directly threatens the safety of the residents of Pernik," the MPs wrote.

The MPs are demanding an answer as to whether the Ministry has taken measures to sanction the persons responsible and whether there is a danger to the people of the city. They also call for quick and effective measures guaranteeing the health of citizens and a safe environment.
