186 reports of vote buying have so far been submitted to the Ministry of Interior, caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov has announced. Out of the 74 cases in which pretrial proceedings have been initiated, the biggest number of attempts at election fraud have been registered in the regions of Sofia and Burgas.

“There is nothing new in the approach to the vote-buying attempts,” commented Minister Stoyanov, and added that in most cases they involved debt cancellation, tabs in shops and other kinds of financial benefits.

The operations against vote buyers will continue until 9 June when the elections will take place for National Assembly of Bulgaria and European Parliament
