Grigor Dimitrov has produced his best performance at Roland Garros. After beating No. 8 Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (5), 6-4, 7-6 (3) at Court Suzanne Lenglen on Sunday, he secured his place in the quarter-finals in Paris. The Bulgarian will next play world number two Jannik Sinner.  The 10th seed Dimitrov reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros for the first time at the age of 33 and his comment was: "Better late than never".

"I knew it was going to be a tough match. I managed to stay solid throughout the match and it ended on a positive note," he said. The Bulgarian fell on the court several times because he didn't want any balls to get past him. “I was just telling myself: I’m going to get to every single ball that is there,” he said. “I’m like: No ball is passing me, he said, quoted by AP.

He injured his right hand and elbow in a fall in the third set. He was covered in clay and blood, but finished the match victorious. "I was so focused on the game that I didn't notice. I only saw afterwards that the handle of my racket was covered in blood. It's no big deal. In fact, it takes me back to my childhood when I used to play on different surfaces at home," said the tennis player, who was born and raised in Haskovo.
