Roman camps and gladiator games during the Eagle on the Danube Ancient Heritage Festival

The 18th edition of the Ancient Heritage Festival "Eagle on the Danube" will be held from June 14 to 16 in two places in the region of Pleven - the Ulpia Oescus colony near the village of Gigen and the Roman castle Ad Putea near the village of Riben. The opening is on June 14 at the visitor center of the Roman castle Ad Putea near Riben. 

Re-enactment groups from Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, England and Serbia will be presented. There will be workshops for young fans of history and demonstrations of dishes from ancient cuisine. The next two days the festival will take place entirely in Ulpia Oescus near the village of Gigen, where a Roman march and barbarian camps will be organized, games will be held, a contest for antique clothing, ornaments, hairstyles and weapons, re-enactments of gladiatorial games will be presented, as well as a battle between barbarians and Romans. On Sunday, visitors will once again be able to explore the two camps and take part in various workshops. The "Golden Eagle" award for preservation of cultural and historical heritage will also be presented.
