On 15 June, Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant will be shut down for planned preventive maintenance due to a detected malfunction in the oil system of the unit transformer in the non-nuclear part and indications of a heat transfer medium leak in the steam generator. This was announced by the nuclear power plant.

The monitoring of the systems and equipment of unit six indicates that the operating limits specified in the technological regulations have not been exceeded.  There has been no change in the radiation situation in the working premises and on the Kozloduy NPP site.

Unit 5 was put into operation on 10 June 2024 after completion of the scheduled annual overhaul and replacement of a quarter of its Russian fuel with US Westinghouse fuel.
