Caretaker PM Glavchev optimistic about speedy formation of European institutions and national government

The moment to talk about the portfolio of the next Bulgarian EU commissioner is miles away, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said in Brussels, where he attended the working dinner of EU leaders. Bulgaria, like all member states, has early nominations for the presidents of the European Commission and the European Parliament and for an EU high representative for foreign affairs, Glavchev said. He stressed that the positions would be discussed at Monday's informal meeting, but decisions are to be taken later at the official meeting on 27-28 June.

"We are in favour of a quick understanding. The idea is that the Commission should start its work as soon as possible, so that the bodies that need to be approved by MEPs can also start working," the prime minister said, adding that he also wanted things to happen quickly in the Bulgarian National Assembly so that there was a parliament with a full mandate and a government with a mandate of the first power could be formed quickly.
