The Panagyurishte Gold Treasure is a national heritage that should be shown to the world, which is why I believe its place is in the National History Museum, interim Culture Minister Naiden Todorov told bTV.

On June 20, the Plovdiv Municipal Council will decide whether the Panagyurishte treasure should be returned to the Plovdiv Archaeological Museum.

According to Todorov, the case is fictitious

"Yes, the treasure belongs to the Plovdiv museum - nobody questions that - but I think that it should be presented to the largest audiences in the world, so that it is something to be proud of. The Bulgarian National History Museum can present it better to the world. This treasure has been to the Louvre, the British Museum and is about to go to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Can a regional museum do that?" asked Todorov rhetorically.
