Bulgaria's newly-elected 50th National Assembly to hold its first sitting today

Silvi Kirilov from "There Is Such a People" party, the oldest MP in the 50th National Assembly, will open the first session of the new parliament at 9:00 am on June 19, the parliament's press center said. According to the Constitution, the first session of the newly elected MPs is opened by the oldest member of parliament and all MPs are sworn in. Silvi Kirilov, aged 73, was elected as an MP from Burgas. He was also the oldest MP in the 47th National Assembly and opened the first session of the 47th Parliament on December 3, 2021.

The youngest member of the 50th parliament, Georgi Nikolaev Krastev, is 24 years old and represents GERB-SDS. He was elected as an MP from Ruse. At the inaugural session of the 50th National Assembly, the MPs must also elect the speaker and deputy speakers of the parliament.
