Deutsche Bahn trains between Sofia and Bourgas in operation

Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov and German Ambassador Irene Maria Plank presented the modernised second-hand German carriages acquired by Bulgarian Railways (BDZ), reports BGNES. 

They will put into operation on Saturday, June 22. The 19 cars will be used on the Sofia-Burgas-Sofia route during the summer season and will run daily. The first train will leave this Saturday. The composition will be made up of four air-conditioned salon-type carriages and one carriage for the transport of persons with reduced mobility, which will travel permanently as part of the train composition.

The new train will cover the distance between the capital and the port city in 5 hours and 55 minutes and will be the fastest train on the line, according to the current capacity of the line. Until now, the journey from Sofia to Bourgas by direct train took between 5.50 and 7.50 hours.
